Personal Loans, is it alright?

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

Me and my husband and little baby girl are moving into a rental house long term (2+ years) until we relocate for my husband to attend Georgia Tech. We really need some help getting the initial process of furnishing our home with its’ utilities and furnishings since this will be the largest move we have made and only 1 out of 3. We were considering a small personal loan of about 1000 dollars to give us a boost, but the issue is that we, being young, do not have as much credit as we might like. We have some, but it isn’t amazing (me at 629 and him probably a bit higher, like 650-670, not sure about him though.) His job does not compensate him largely, he makes 8.50 an hour and works full time. He is the only one with a credit card, which is secured. Due to our lack of credit history and personal finances, is it possible that we could qualify for a small personal loan? What are some suggested loan agencies to look at? What are some to beware of? Will being denied affect our credit score adversely? Any information that you can give us to help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My husband made a 28 on his act, graduated in the top of his class, and aspires to be an Aerospace engineer. While he has not been accepted yet, there is no doubt in my mind that he wouldn’t have a chance. If he doesn’t get accepted there, then something is wrong, lol. He’s in a community college with me right now (more affordable), but he never ceases to impress his professors and doesn’t make grades less than a high B EVER :) That’s just where he wants to go and I said it because it is our plan.

How do bank loans for cars work?

Friday, December 16th, 2011

I applied for a 15,000 bank loan to buy a used car (undecided on new or used, if I decided new I will need to up that to 20,000). Anyway I talked to my bank on the phone (RBC) and got conditionally approved for a ,000 loan and now I have an appointment today to talk to a representative in person. The lady on the phone told me it would be to talk about the loan and to get a 00 credit card which I have been pre approved for. What do I need the credit card for? SUrely you don’t need to have a credit card to buy the car. How hard is it going to be to get the other ,000 I will probably need??

Also, when I am approved how does that work. The bank automatically puts the ,000 into my account which goes to the dealership each month? And then I pay the same ammount to the bank each month or what? How long do I have to pay back?

Treat myself or save the money?

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

This month, I will get an extra paycheck. This is because of the way our paydays fall, we get paid every 2 weeks. I just bought a new house (brand new!) and the mortgage will start in December with the first payment being around 00.

There are so many things I need to buy… ok..wait…I WANT to buy for the new house like furniture, lighting, accessories, an LCD tv and such. I don’t necessarily need to buy them. The yard needs some landscaping and a fence for my dog so he can run.

My old house hasn’t sold yet (UGH…I just fired my realtor and got a new one) but when it does and if I can get a good price for it, it will help me pay off a credit card (I used it to pay off Bank of America, they ticked me off), I got a better APR than I had. I also have a thrift loan at work that I used for a down payment on my new house. The thrift is auto-deducted from my paycheck. The credit card I’m paying above the minimum each month.

Please, serious responses only.
2 great answers already. I’ve given them both thumbs up!

JB, the bills at the new house and old one are current it’s just that I could use the extra money to get ahead and stay ahead. Thanks for your comments.
All good answers, everyone gets thumbs up. The majority has spoken to save the extra $$$. I concur, thanks all!

Would you take a lone? I’m stressed, having a hard time making a clear decision.

I need to take a trip home to bring my son home to see my parents (0), my son needs dental work done ASAP (0) and I need to pay H&R Block for taxes done (0) and this all needs to be done very soon. I currently have about 0 to spend on these things with another 0 being paid back to me this week. So I have about 0 to pay for 30 worth of things.

Once my taxes are paid for and filed I’ll have about 00 back, when ever it is that the government will send it to me.

Should I take a loan out and pay it back bit by bit until I get my tax money back?

What should I do, ask for an increase from a small loan from CitiFinacial, do to a payday type thing, ask for a credit extension on my credit card? I checked and my bank won’t do a loan as small as I need and I don’t want to take out a huge loan, even if I’m not using it.

None of these things can really wait, my father is not well and I can get a good seat sale price to fly home but I have to by this week…
HA HA HA, see I am stressed, obviously that should say "would you take a loan?"
My parents can’t afford to share the cost of the trip, my father has been on permanent disability for a few years and my mother can only work part time to help take care of him.

Dental work IS top priority, but also, taxes done are from previous years and I have the government breathing down my neck to get it done….

What are the steps to get a bank loan to buy a vehicle?

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Im looking to buy a new car and I dont have all of the money BUT im about 1000 short. So, Im thinking the best way to make up for that 1000 is get a bank loan to pay the rest off. So say the car is 4000 and I have 3000 dollars to put down, I basically would need a 1000 dollar loan. I dont really have any credit, maybe some from paying off a credit card (that is also through my bank), but I understand 1000 dollar loan isnt asking for much considering I would be able to pay it off within 6 months. So what are the steps and judging from my situation, do you think I would be able to get that type of loan?

Small personal loan question PLEASE HELP ME!?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

I need to get a small (,000) loan for a down payment on a new home we will be getting. The home is lease to own, and I don’t have any thing of real value. I have poor credit and was wondering if there is anywhere to go, to obtain a unsecured bad credit personal loan. PLEASE HELP! I really want to get out of my wretched appartment! Thanks
I actually have 000 and just need the other 2000 to have the whole down payment. By the way how dare you say what I can and can not afford, my mother ruined my credit when I was a teen and she put me on her credit card. I swear to God some people need to think before they speak. If you are not going to list anything helpful why waste your time?

Personal Loan – Installment Loan?

Sunday, September 11th, 2011

Hello, I was looking around for a personal loan however I would like to get a installment loan. I got already quite a few offers but they are all unsecured credit lines which is equal to a credit card. Is there a way to get an unsecured Personal Installment Loan ?
Any help is appreciated.

What would be better, credit card, or personal loan?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Next month my car registration is due, that is roughly 0. I am also in need of a new paid of glasses, they will cost around 0 and recently my camera broke (I do photography) and a replacement would be at least 00.

I have applied for an unsecured personal loan via cash first, and was unsuccessful. At this time, the only place that I can get a loan is cash converters. And paying back a 00 loan over 7 months can get kind of tight (I have done it before, repayments are about a week).

Recently, a friend of mine applied for a credit card to pay off her car repairs, and she said it was much easier than getting a loan.

So the option of a credit card has come up!

I currently work 5-6 days a week, ranging from 30-45 hours a week. And I earn between 0 and 0 a week (it fluctuates, but is never lower than 0, ever)

Which option would be the best for me?
I’m not too sure about Credit Cards, because I know where they can go wrong. I’m also not clear on how the repayments work and such.

The card I have been recommended is this one;

Additional information;
I am a car owner, I am 20 years old and I currently rent a house. My weekly expenses are never more than 0 p/w.

What reputable lenders will do unsecured consolidation loans?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

The only one I know of is Capital One.

We have very good credit, never delinquent, never defaulted and good jobs. We’re just over-extended and I’d like to consolidate the credit cards and smaller bills for a few reasons, including:

1. one bill vs many, easier to manage
2. a true END date, unlike a credit card
3. fixed payment

I’ve tried doing searches but nothing comes up that looks legit to me and I’ve heard the horror stories. A home equity loan is not an option. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance!
