Student Loans in additon to tuition and paying back after graduation?

Monday, December 26th, 2011

Just curious as to where I could possibly get some money in advance of this upcoming semester for student loans for college. . . I know that there are 1000′s out there . . .but what I need is money to cover extra expenses. . .gas. . food . .books. . .etc. . .and not necessarily tuition. I have seen many out there with like a month payment after graduation . . .but they ALL seem to go through the school first. I understand they need to verify that I am a student. . .but are there any out there that can come to me?
Just wondering. . .
Thanks

What happens to a $1000 deposit in an apartment lease?

Friday, December 16th, 2011

I’m 18, I’m a freshman in college, and things are getting rough at my house with my controlling parents. Right now I have about 00 in my bank account, but sometime in February or March I’ll receive 50 in student loans. I plan to use that money for living costs. About 0 of this money will be deducted for school, because the rest of my schooling is covered. The rent at the apartment I’m looking at is set at 9 a month, and I THINK it includes everything. I haven’t signed or talked to anyone yet. I am pretty sure though because that’s what the add said. I’m looking for a job, but my mom will probably take my car away, so I’ll to find something close to school. The apartment requires a 00 deposit. What is done with that money? Does that include first months rent or not?
Also, any opinions or suggestions on my current situation? Do you think it’s a bad idea for me to move out? My parents really are horrible to me. They tell me that I can only drive to school and home. It’s ridiculous. Thank you!

What's more important… paying off my student loans faster, or contributing to my 401k now?

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

I graduated in May with 35,000 in student loans. I have full time job in my field of study and I’m making 33k a year. I’m fortunate enough to be living at home and only have about a 10 minute drive to work each day… so, my monthly expenses are MINIMAL.

my take home pay after taxes is about 00 a month, right now my plan is to contribute 40% to my student loans, 40% to my 401k, and 20% will go to my monthly expenses & whatever is left each month to my savings account.

My question is, does this sound like a good plan? My company only matches 50% up to 00 of my 401k contribution, but I know that if I contribute a lot now (while I’m single and living at home) it will grow a lot.
However, this plan will take me ~3.5-4 years to pay off my student loan debt… and if I nixed my 401k contributions I could pay off my loans in less than 2 years.

I don’t plan on moving out of my parents house for at least 3 years. (it really does not make sense for me to, i have it made right now haha!)

What do you all think about my student loan payoff/retirement "financial plan"?

Monday, November 21st, 2011

I have good credit but I am currently unemployed. Can I qualify for a small loan?

Friday, November 4th, 2011

By small loan I obviously don’t need much like 00-00 tops to cover this month and next month. My credit is good but I have no job. Up until around Oct, I was working as a temp. Now its been hard finding work and literally have no money in my account. I need the money to pay bills and student loans (forbearance fee/months bill). My parents cannot help me and I dont know where else I can go, trying to work something out with creditors even so a payment must be made. Christmas is coming up and its depressing me actually. Please help. I looked up a few websites that give cash advances and paydays even if your credit is bad etc but all those require you have a job or some consistent form of income even the small loans of 0. Serious answers please.
Oh okay thank you for your answers so basically there is nothing I can do until I have employment which once I have I wouldnt need a loan to start off with. Well I thought you could get a loan with a cosigner if ur credit is good guess I was mistaken. Anyway, all I needed was a yes and contact info or no answer

So far, I like Reena’s answer best thanks.

Overdrew checking acct $1000, what now?

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

I thought a student loan payment was going to go through on Friday for ,750. It didn’t. Meanwhile, I bought a number of items online that I needed, incluing a camera for a class and some computer upgrades, among other things I’d been planning to buy.

It turns out the ,750 wasn’t going through on Friday, and instead I have to wait a month since these are my first student loans, and for whatever reason they make you wait a month the first time you get them. I just didn’t realize this and I had read the literature wrong, as it said "Sept 26" on it.

About four or five "bad" ach transactions went through, they weren’t returned. I’m now overdrawn 00 or so. What will happen? What should I do? I’m scared. I’m in so much trouble now. Do I talk to the bank? Will I go to jail?

Is this too much in student loans?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

I am graduating this coming may 2012 ( 8 months) and so far after this year’s fin aid and loans I will be graduating with a total of 11000 in student loans for my GSCM degree ( Global supply chain management). I am worried about those 11K in loans… I didn’t take any loans out for my first two years at a community college ( plus my parents help me) but for my remaining two years I took out the 11K in loans ..reason was – my pell grand did not cover my full tuition.

Any one else in similar situation? I can’t stop thinking about this debt!! I hate to live in debt. I already have 1000 in credit card debt and I am paying that off slowly.

Can you use a personal loan to buy a motorcycle and use the motorcyle title as collateral?

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Ok so I don’t have the best credit and I’m 22. I had 2 credit cards I missed payments on a year ago but since i paid them off through a settlement. I have 00 in student loans and that is the only thing I owe to my name, and I haven’t missed a payment on them the 10 months iv been paying them. Iv been with my bank 12 years and lived at the same address 22 years. I make 00 a month but have only been working at my current job a month.

I’m looking for a 00 loan for a used motorcycle being sold by a private party but I don’t think I would qualify for an autoloan.

But I was wondering if I put 00 down and also give them the title to use as collateral? Would that help my chances of getting accepted? Where would be the best place to go to try this? And most importantly can I use the motorcycle title as collateral on an unsecured or personal loan?

Wouldn’t 00 down and the motorcycle title be enough for them to lend only 00 to just about anyone? I don’t even think my credit is horrific, I just don’t know if it would be considered bad credit.

Then I assume I will have to have full insurance on the bike if the bank can use the title as collateral on the personal loan?

I don’t have a co signer by the way.

Thanks so much to anybody that answers

Two mortgages ($3267/m), unsecured debt of $80000 and total annual income of $115,000. Can I file bankruptcy?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

We reside in one of the two homes (00/m) and the other mortgage is house we have been trying to sell unsucessfully (67/m). We currently do not take home enough money each month to cover our minimum payments much less buy groceries. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks!

How Difficult Will it Be to Pay off My Student Loans?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

I am in chiropractic college right now and i figure that when i am done, i should have about 5,000 in student loan debt, for the full 7 years of schooling. The average pay for the first year out of school is about ,000-,000 and at about 5 years, it is around 0,000 or so.

I have no plans on having children or buying a house. My car is already paid off. I can probably get a 00 a month apartment where i will be living. Besides that and a few standard utility bills and whatnot, nothing too expensive that i can foresee.

I know there are a lot of variables here but in general, does it sound like i could pay off my student loans fairly quickly with that type of finical situation?

My credit score now is about 500. I just got approved for a orchard bank unsecured credit card.?

I want to know how I should manage it. I currently have a car loan and student loans that have made current, and I have about 3 CO that I am paying off. Any suggetions?

Does the quality of higher education today warrant the dramatic increase in tuition?

Monday, September 5th, 2011

I recently paid over 00 for tuition and books for two classes in order to get the need pre-req’s for nursing school and I have yet to get them all. If it were not for federal aid, and student loans I would not be able to afford the education that will ultimately allow me to have the life I know I can make for myself. I know there are schools that cost much more which is the primary reason that I am attending a junior college. So why does it cost more to matriculate the same degree that was attained a decade ago for a fraction of the price?

Does anyone know of any lenders who provide unsecured loans to students in the amount of $35,000?

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

I went from working a full time job and holding ends together to becoming a full time student in an accellerated program and not being able to make ends meet at all. Unfortunately, the class schedule is so random no one in their right mind will hire me for a part time job. I have good credit but took out a 0,000 student loan to pay for school. Because of that loan I cannot find anyone that will consider lending that. The above mentioned ,000 would be used to pay a few things…car, credit card, two other student loans, and a couple of other things of that nature. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions…it would be appreciated.
It’s actually a flight school. You are right though, I can’t imagine anyone dishing out 35k for a loan either. Thats why i’m looking for suggestions.
